Hi, my name is McKayla Galliart! I am honored to serve as the 2023 president of the Upsilon chapter of Alpha Phi at Washburn University. When I joined Alpha Phi as a freshman, I never would’ve pictured myself as a future president, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead the chapter that holds such a special place in my heart.

Coming to Washburn from out of state, I needed an organization to belong to and a way to make connections on campus. I decided to go through recruitment and see what Greek life was about, but to be honest, I was not sold on joining a sorority. After the conversations I had, the people I met, and the relationships I formed that weekend, I realized that Alpha Phi was exactly the group of people I wanted to belong to. I wanted the lifelong friendships, the leadership experience, and the opportunities to give back to other people. After being a member of Alpha Phi for nearly three years, I got all these things and so much more.

I am so grateful to be surrounded by a group of such supportive, hardworking, and entertaining people. Everyone brings something so unique to the table and it’s incredible to see all the individual strengths working together toward the same goals. The doors that this chapter has opened for me are endless and I have grown so much as an individual since joining. Alpha Phi has a way of inspiring you to be a better person and I will carry the things I’ve learned and the people I've made friendships with long after I leave Washburn.
